YES — THIS IS FOR RIMS
SIDERO is the rim cleaner here. It dissolves bonded ferrous brake dust and the mineral/limescale residue that ordinary wheel shampoo leaves behind, and it tells you when it has found limescale: the purple shifts to a dark green-bronze as the mineral residue is removed.
Two things make it a wheel product rather than just a bodywork decon. It is heavily lubricated, so you can brush the gaps of a painted rim without dragging grit across the finish. And its F.R.G. gel technology clings to vertical surfaces even diluted, so it stays on the barrel instead of running to the bottom of the wheel.
Labocosmetica rate it inert on bodywork, bumpers, plastics, mouldings and glass — overspray on paint and trim is not a problem. The one surface to avoid is bare, untreated metal. Never apply it to a hot rim.
DILUTION — LABOCOSMETICA'S OWN FIGURES
- Neat for heavy contamination, rust marks, rail dust, and cleaning the inside of the barrel.
- Up to 1:4 (1 part product : 4 parts water) for regular maintenance decon. That is the maximum dilution — it holds its gel behaviour at that strength.
THE ORDER WE USE IT IN
- Presoak and pressure rinse the wheels first — loose grit off before anything touches the finish.
- SIDERO over the whole wheel, face and barrel. Let it dwell and change colour. Do not let it dry.
- Big EZ brush through the barrel and behind the spokes while the gel is still wet. The unseen back of the wheel is what keeps re-contaminating the face you just cleaned.
- Rinse thoroughly, then continue into your normal contact wash.
- NERO on a dry sidewall, on one of the no-soak pads.
WHY THE DRESSING GOES LAST — AND WHY IT'S SOLVENT-FREE
A dressing laid over brake dust and old browning is why tyres go patchy and brown again inside a fortnight. Decontaminate first and the finish lasts. NERO is solvent-free and lays down a deep matte factory-black rather than a greasy gloss — solvent-carried dressings are the ones that sling onto paint and dry out a sidewall over time.
The no-soak pads have a liquid barrier through the middle, so the gel stays on the working face instead of soaking through into your fingers. You use noticeably less product per tyre, and the edge of the pad gives you a clean line at the rim.
SAFETY
Wear gloves and eye protection. Labocosmetica classify SIDERO H302 (harmful if swallowed), H319 (serious eye irritation) and H317 (may cause an allergic skin reaction). Avoid breathing the spray mist.
