Where Feynlab fits in Australia

Feynlab is the chemistry-led American ceramic coating range built on real polymer science: biphasal hybrids, self-healing nano-composites, and surface-protection systems for paint, glass, plastic, fabric and PPF. The brand maintains an Australian distribution arm at au.feynlab.com and a tiered certified-installer network that Feynlab deliberately keeps limited.

That network density is a brand policy, not a marketing claim. Feynlab would rather train fewer installers properly than over-saturate a market — which is part of how warranty integrity is maintained on the longer-tier coatings. Some products, notably Heal Plus, are only available through top-tier certified installers.

Alpha Details is a certified Feynlab installer and reseller in Melbourne. We carry 20+ active Feynlab SKUs covering ceramic coatings, surface-specific coatings (window, wheel, plastic, marine), maintenance washes, paint-correction compounds, and detailing accessories — including professional-use tiers like Ceramic Ultra V2/V3 and Industrial V2 for trade and detailer customers.

Why detailers choose Feynlab

Memory polymer

Heal range physically self-heals

Feynlab's Heal range incorporates a memory polymer in the ceramic backbone that activates above approximately 30 °C. Light scratches and swirl marks within the coating layer reflow closed under ambient sunlight or a warm wash — without polishing. Applied at up to 5 microns thick. Most "self-healing" claims in detailing are slightly more flexible polymers; this is a memory polymer that physically reflows.

Biphasal hybrid

Ultra V3 — base + top, single application

Feynlab Ultra V3 combines base coat and top coat chemistry into a single application — a true biphasal hybrid — producing a water contact angle of approximately 113° with deep optical gloss. Rated 5 years professional-use-only. The working detailer's pick where a one-step application matters and the customer wants premium gloss and durability.

Surface-specific

A real chemistry per substrate

Where many ceramic brands rebottle one formula and re-label it for different surfaces, Feynlab develops genuinely separate chemistries: covalent silicate for glass, high-temperature ceramic for wheels and calipers, restoration-plus-protection for plastic trim, and a urethane-targeted formula for PPF and vinyl. The right product is the one engineered for the substrate.

Certified · Accredited · Trainer

A certified Feynlab installer in Melbourne — training the OEM workshop down the road.

Alpha Details is a certified Feynlab installer based in Heidelberg West, Melbourne, with chemistry-trained application and a controlled studio environment for coating work. We deliver Feynlab installer training to the Porsche Doncaster service team. The detailer applying Feynlab to your car is the same detailer training the OEM workshop down the road — that should give you a sense of the standard.

Paolo Recinella runs Alpha Details. He holds an industrial chemistry degree with majors in both organic and inorganic chemistry — unusual in the detailing trade. We treat Feynlab application as the surface-chemistry problem it actually is: substrate preparation, surface energy, ionic strength, cure profile, cross-link density.

Feynlab coating installation in Melbourne

If you are looking to have Feynlab applied — not bought — Alpha Details installs the full Feynlab coating line at our Heidelberg West studio. Every job begins with multi-stage decontamination (iron fallout removal, tar removal, clay-bar treatment), surface assessment under high-intensity inspection lighting, and at minimum a single-stage machine polish to remove swirl marks and oxidation before the coating is applied. Skipping prep simply locks contamination into the coating — which is why we don't skip it.

Entry tier

What makes Alpha Details different

Paolo Recinella runs Alpha Details. He holds an industrial chemistry degree with majors in both organic and inorganic chemistry — unusual in the detailing trade, where most operators come from automotive backgrounds. We treat Feynlab application as the wet-chemistry problem it actually is: surface energy, ionic strength, hydrolysis, cross-link density, cure profile.

That chemistry depth is why we are a certified installer and trainer in the Feynlab professional ceramic coating range, an authorised Labocosmetica accredited applicator, and an authorised Koch Chemie reseller in Australia. Other detailers in Melbourne send their cars to us when a job demands chemistry expertise rather than glove-and-go labour.

Worth knowing →

Self-healing in the Heal range works on the coating layer, not the underlying paint. It will close micro-marring within the coating but it cannot heal scratches in the clearcoat below the coating, and it will not protect against rock chips. For rock-chip protection, that's the job of paint protection film — and we coat PPF with Feynlab PPF V3 Ceramic for the best of both.

Frequently asked questions — Feynlab in Australia

Where can I buy Feynlab products in Australia?

Feynlab in Australia is supplied through au.feynlab.com and through certified installers and authorised resellers. Alpha Details retails the full Feynlab consumer and professional range from our Heidelberg West Melbourne studio with Australia-wide shipping. Some professional-use-only tiers (Ceramic Ultra V2/V3, Industrial V2) require trade verification at checkout.

Ceramic Lite vs Ultra V3 vs the Heal range?

The Original (Ceramic Lite) is a hydrophobic nano-coating for entry-level protection at 1–2 years — ideal for newer paint already in good condition. Ultra V3 is a biphasal hybrid ceramic, base and top coat chemistry combined in a single application, rated 5 years professional-use-only with a contact angle around 113°. The Heal range incorporates a memory polymer that activates above ~30 °C and self-heals light scratches in the coating layer, applied up to 5 microns thick with a 5-year warranty.

Is Feynlab self-healing real, or marketing?

The Heal range uses a memory-polymer chemistry that physically reflows above approximately 30 °C, closing fine scratches in the coating layer (not the underlying paint). Heat from sunlight or a warm wash activates the effect. It works on micro-marring within the coating itself; it does not heal clearcoat scratches and does not protect against rock chips. Self-healing within the coating layer is real — treat the marketing as describing what it actually does.

Why is the Feynlab installer network in Australia so limited?

Feynlab deliberately limits installer density per market. The brand prioritises depth of training and facility standards over network size, which is part of how warranty integrity is maintained on the longer-tier coatings. Some products — notably Heal Plus — are only available to top-tier certified installers. Fewer choices, higher confidence in the work.

Can I install Feynlab myself?

Consumer-tier products including Feynlab The Original and the surface-specific coatings (Window, Plastic, Wheel and Caliper) are designed for DIY application by competent owners with proper prep. Professional-use-only tiers (Ceramic Ultra V2/V3, Industrial V2, the Heal range) require certified-installer credentials — the application window, ambient conditions, and post-cure protocols matter. We sell what's appropriate to the buyer.

Does Alpha Details offer Feynlab training?

Yes. Alpha Details runs Feynlab training for trade detailers and dealership service teams — including delivering training to the Porsche Doncaster service team. Trade enquiries are welcome through our enquiry form.

What surfaces can Feynlab coat?

Feynlab has a chemistry for nearly every automotive surface: original-equipment paint, paint protection film, vinyl wraps, window glass, painted wheels and brake calipers, plastic trim (faded and unfaded), matte paint, marine gelcoat, and industrial substrates. The product per surface is genuinely engineered for that surface — not the same coating relabelled.

Cure time and aftercare?

Surface flash-off is typically minutes; full cross-link cure on the standard ceramic tiers is around 24 hours, with full chemical hardness reached over 7 days. Avoid rain, automatic washes and harsh chemicals for the first 7 days. Long-term, use Feynlab-compatible maintenance products — Pure Wash, Pure Rinseless V3, Hybrid Ceramic Detailer or Overcoat V3 between full washes. Avoid abrasive contact wash gear; abrasion is the dominant failure mode for any ceramic coating.

Feynlab vs Labocosmetica vs Koch Chemie?

Feynlab's strength is surface-specific engineering and the Heal-range memory-polymer self-healing chemistry — neither Labocosmetica nor Koch Chemie offers a directly comparable self-healing line. Labocosmetica's strength is a deeply integrated 3-pH wash and decontamination system plus VDA certification across the formulation library. Koch Chemie's strength is paint-correction compounds and professional wash chemistry. Most well-equipped detailers carry products from more than one of these brands — we retail and apply all three.

A memory polymer that physically reflows above 30 °C is unusual chemistry. Most "self-healing" claims in detailing are slightly more flexible polymers. Feynlab's Heal range is the real thing.
